I am a software engineering professional working in the Silicon Valley. I graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Computer Science in 2000.
I enjoy working with many different technologies, as well as being familiar with many programming languages - C, C++, Python, Java, PHP, Perl, VBScript, and JavaScript just to name a few.
I work as an Software Engineer for Cisco Systems, where I am enjoying being a part of "Changing the Way We Work, Live, Play, and Learn." Specifically I am working in UCBU (Unified Communications Business Unit) in VTG (Voice Technology Group), on the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace conferencing application.
I changed my last name from Blomquist to Hraban (my wife's maiden name), which is why some of the documents contain references to a Scott Blomquist - thats still me :).
Projects I did while I was at Stanford
My final project for the CS197 Workstation Consulting class was to write some instructions for setting up a home network using a Linux box as the gateway.
In Fall of '97, I wrote a paper about Free Speech and the Internet that I am interested in feedback about. It is a little outdated at this point, since the hot topic at the time was the legality of pornographic sites, but I did put in a small section about sites with bomb making instructions which is a little more timely in light of recent events. To sum up the paper, just because their are many things on the web that are offensive does not mean that the authors do not have the First Amendment right to post it. Check it out and then send me email.
