Overdue

As of today I am officially 5 days over due. This SUCKS. I am totally ready to be done and just have my baby already

So Friday was hopeful - I had irregular contractions ALL DAY, but at least they were all day. We had Mexican to try the "spicy food" Old Wives Tale (OWT), but still nothing.

Saturday - only 2 possible contractions all day. We tried the "Pineapple" OWT and a walk, but still nothing

Sunday - we were able to face the mental ordeal of going to church (we skipped last week because I couldn't deal with baby & labor questions). Sunday school was fine - everyone kind of got the idea that I am ready to be done and to just not ask about it - most of them were actually supprised to see us.
Again not too many contractions on Sunday - I am beginning to think that Kiddo wants to be a March baby.

All of this waiting is really getting to me. I really beleived that Kiddo would be here early. So even though I am technically only 5 days overdue it feels more like 10.
I am an emotional wreck and have a breakdown about every 2-3 days - poor Scott has to try to convince me that this baby IS coming out and that what I am feeling is normal.

40 Week Dr. Appt

We are officially overdue as of today and even the nurses in the doctors office are starting to ask if we have talked about induction . . . I mean it is only 1 day so far.

Todays appt was with a CNM and her grad student. I figure I already barely know the people who are checking me - why not let a student learn . . . I mean what harm could she do? send me into labor????

Any way - as usual everything looks fine
Measurements are good
Heartbeat is strong
Baby is in good position
Mom looks fine
New info this visit
- Cervix is 1.5 cm long (down from over 4 cm)
- Cervix is "soft"
- Dilated about 1.5 cm (which is way better then last time)

So basically it could be anytime now.

Tick...Tock...Tick...Tock

40 Weeks

40 Weeks

Well I have been slacking in the picture department. Here I am at 40 weeks . . .

Oh yeah I almost forgot. I'm standing next to the cradle my Grandfather made for me when I was a baby (which Scott and I attempted to refinish) and which my Mom sewed all the bedding for. Isn't the stars and planets theme cute!

Still Here

Since the first appointment when they give you an official "due date" I have been convinced that Kiddo would come early (I have my logical reasons, but they may be a bit TMI). So here I am 1 day before my official due date and nothing seems to be happening. It has been really hard for me the past few days - because I really believed that I would have had my baby by now.

I am just tired of waiting and trying to figure out if each pain or feeling is the beginning of something.
Not to mention that we must have gone on 10 "walks" in the last 3 days.
I guess I am just not good at waiting.

39 Week Appointment

Yet another appointment . . . Yet another unexciting event.

Baby is measuring fine
Heart rate is good
Mom looks good
etc.

And the kicker - the Dr. made a silly comment about not telling us how much I am not "progressing". Lucky me - Looks like Kiddo has no plans to go anywhere soon.

Is it wrong

I don't want to sound like a bad person or a bad mother, but I am beginning to wish this pregnancy thing would just be over. I am achy and tired and anxious about every feeling (like oh what was that - should I be paying attention to that cause it might be the start of labor). I just wish that there was a definite way to know "When" labor was starting. Everyone just says - oh you'll just know - and that is really annoying. I want a color change test or a light or something obvious!

Cisco Shower

Today Scott's coworkers threw him (and another guy) a baby shower. Isn't that cute. I thought it was very cool of them to acknowledge that the men are having babies too.

Pictures . . . More coming soon

2nd week unemployed

I think it is finally setting in that I don't have work anymore. I am not exactly saying that I miss working, but I do somewhat miss having a schedule. It makes time move more quickly. I have been trying to fill my days with productive things, but the days seem very long and eventually I just run out of steam. I am sure that I will have more than enough to do eventually, but for now the days are kinda dragging by.

The Car Seat

Well Scott and I wrestled with the car seat a few weekends ago (and wrestled is not an exaggeration) and today I finally got it checked by the CHP. In our childbirth class they recommended this because something like over half of car seat are not properly installed!

So I was really lucky to get an appointment on such short notice (I called on Monday). When I got to the CHP office they looked at the seat, pulled it a bit and did a general check. Scott and I got a gold star for installation! the only thing we missed was how to "lock" the seatbelt - We only used the metal tab provided by the car seat manufacturer, and didn't get the belt to lock retract . . . Overall they officer was very impressed with how thourough a job we did!

YEAH!

One thing off the to do list!

Midwife Appointment

Today's "Dr." appointment was actually with a nurse midwife. I really like her attitude! Very honest and laid back.

We got some new pictures (We'll post them as soon as we scan them) one of Kiddo's heart and one of the foot that is continually tring to push its way out underneath the left side of me rib cage.

Overall everything is going according to plan. We have just under 3 weeks until our due date! WOW where did the time go??
